Winter Bliss in Alpbachtal
There is nothing more enjoyed by our guests on winter holiday here in Reith im Alpbachtal than waking up amidst a snowy winter wonderland. The snow glistens in the morning sunshine and the blue skies always appear even more stunning and clear during winter.
Skiers and snowboarders are spoilt for choice here. For family-friendly fun on the slopes, the ski area at the Reither Kogel mountain is the place to be. The ski field is situated nearby, and our guests can either walk directly to the ski lift or take the free ski bus, which stops just across the road from the Apartments Sonnwend. All guests can try out some night skiing as well. The slopes are illuminated at night three times per week– on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
The fantastic ski resort Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau offers 145 km of perfectly groomed slopes and pure alpine delights for the entire family. The easiest access point to the large ski area is in Alpbach, which is only a few kilometres from our accommodation. Simply take the free ski bus and get dropped off at the Wiedersbergerhornbahn lift station.
The many alpine huts and mountain restaurants serve delicious meals and refreshing drinks to be enjoyed on their sunny terraces with wonderful views. As the day progresses, there is plenty of fun to be had in the huts and après ski bars on the mountain and in the entire holiday region.
One absolute highlight on every winter holiday is tobogganing. Choose between seven different toboggan tracks, which all vary from family-friendly to rather challenging. With fantastic snow-conditions, the Faulbaumgartenalm hut in Inneralpbach is a very popular track. But there are many more, such as the toboggan track Bischoferalm in Alpbach, which is even illuminated at night, and the longest track in the Alpbachtal valley, which starts from the Reitherkogel mountain and leads along the panorama-path to Reith im Alpbachtal.
We also highly recommended taking advantage of the guided torch-lit walks and snow-shoe hikes, which are available multiple times per week. Venture out through the snowy winter landscape of the Alpbachtal valley on a free guided tour included as a service offered by the Alpbachtal Card.
Guests at our accommodation Apartments Sonnwend receive the Alpbachtal Card free of charge upon arrival. This card allows guests to take advantage of the many free services and extras such as guided snow-shoe hikes and torch-lit hikes, ice skating, and free entrance to the indoor swimming pool in Wörgl during winter. During summer, guests can use all the lifts in our region free of charge, as well as the swimming lakes.
